Staying the course......My new favorite saying.
Last night went smoothly with no real spikes in pressures.
Since off the paralytic medication, Jake has become much more reactive during his exams, brushing his teeth, chest X-rays, etc. This morning at his daily chest X-ray, it took a lot of hand holding and talking to him in order to get him to sit still so they could take the xray. He is moving his right arm and leg a lot.....and not in a reflex kind of way, more of a "that is irritating so knock it off" kind of way. Also during a tooth brushing session last night, he got irritated and pulled his left leg up. All of this is very positive.
Another issue that has developed here in the last day or so is the skin irritation around his neck area, just under his chin. It seems to have been caused by excessive moisture collecting down there, and his head being tilted down just enough to form a crease in the skin. It is very irritating to him if the nurses touch that area at all. They have a "wound nurse" specialist coming in today to look at it.
Thanks everyone......Todd
