Day 1

Jake made it through is first night and day about as well as can be expected. He's heavily sedated while they work to keep the pressure from his brain swelling down and watch for signs of problems. I've lost track of all the meds he's on.

He had two CT scans today that both indicated no additional swelling or bleeding which was good news. I also got a small hand squeeze during one of his hourly neuro checks and he has good movement on his right side and a little on his left foot. There has still been no response from his left arm since we brought him in. We're told it's not uncommon for this type of injury and as much swelling as he still has, so that's a waiting game.

We're taking each and every success we can and have to chalk today up as a win.

Todd and I are overwhelmed by all the support and prayers we've received today. I can't begin to tell you what it means to us to know how many people are praying for us and have offered to help with anything we need. Thank you.

  1. Dana and Todd, please know that we are thinking about you guys and praying for Jake throughout our day. Matt did a nice job before dinner praying for him.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do! John is working mostly from home, so we are around. You will all get through this...
